"What’s happening to me?" archive
I couldn’t help but come staring at my homepage, it all looked so dull. No shine, no nothing. So I decided to add some pink to the design… Okay, it’s not that big change, but still, it helped me to move on for a while ;) This design has been up since 2009 already!
Apart from that, I added some of my projects on the right side, which should have been there for a while, like Vie Nomade (my travel blog), Hello Chiang Mai! (my tourist/expat guide) and last but not least… Mashed Potatoes!
Mashed potatoes is actually brand new – born today. I used to have a tumblr account before, but I decided to self-host it and use WordPress instead. And since I didn’t have any time yet to create an original design for it, I just grabbed a beautiful WordPress theme from WooThemes: Crisp.
Back to basics… So Mashed Potatoes, it’s an intercultural and multilingual mix of links, images, videos and quotes of all sorts that I collect during my interwebs travels. Worthwile, or fun, or touching, or interesting, or helpful… Who said mashed potatoes is only about potatoes anyway? You can actually put a lot of spices and stuff into that to make it tasty.
If like me you would like to import your tumblr content to a WordPress blog, you may consider to use this neat plug-in: Feedwordpress. Worked like a charm! The Crisp theme from WooThemes is also quite cool – it includes a whole framework to handle your blog just like tumblr… But if you choose the importing way, be advised that you’ll have to do quite a few updates… at least, if you’re picky like me.
Oh yeah and on a side-note, if you can read french (or if you’re fond on Google Translation), I’ve had two articles published on two very cool blogs:
- Il n’y a que mon ordinateur qui ne change pas (Presse-Citron)
- 5 questions @ Corinne (Vues de Chine)
(They have some neat stuff at WooThemes, and if you decide to purchase something by following this link, I’ll even get a little share for it ;).
It’s been such a long time I don’t post here… Time to fix it I guess. So what has been happening to me during this loooong time? Tons of stuff.
First thing, I became a digital nomad (or technomad) step in may last year. Yep, I sold my stuff, got rid of my apartment contract and started being a traveller… forever. I now work remotely with the help of my fierce MacBook Pro. I’ve been writing a lot about it on my french blog, Vie Nomade. In case you’re really interested and cannot grasp Molière’s language, a Google Translate session should do ;)
I’m still a webdesigner and I’ve kept delivering websites during all this time… but I actually became more of a project manager. I also built a custom CMS with my colleague web developper and friend Céline – we’re still sorting out how to package and sell it, but we already made quite a few happy clients with, yay!
I also became travel writer! Apart from my blog mentioned above, I now publish articles on ebooker’s swiss blog (still in french, sorry). It’s quite fresh, but I’ve been wanting to do this for a long time.
I worked on my photography skills throughout my travels, and I’m enjoying it more and more. I’ve also had a first photographer contract while I was back in Switzerland, but I still do it mostly for fun.
I got rid of my 3D skillset altogether. No more characters, no more illustrations. Although I’ve got plenty of fun with these for a few years, I grew bored of it and anyway… I can’t do everything! So it will be more time and energy I can put in my other projects.
So… I’m currently in Chiang Mai, Thailand. It’s an amazing and inspiring city!
Hugs and sunrays!
It’s been a while that I didn’t write anything on the blog! It is mainly due to a life full of all sort of things. Lots of work, lots of emotional happenings, lots of real life events… As any of you knows it, this makes it hard to find time to create interesting content.
However, I will definitely be back soon! I’m currently looking for a new home and as soon as I’ll be installed and relaxed, be sure to see me back :)
Meanwhile, feel free to follow me on FriendFeed (daily activity) and also to check ou my portfolio (some projects will be posted pretty soon).
Wishing you the very best and looking forward to keep back in touch!
